Save Dogs From Distemper

Please read our report on the effectiveness of the NDV treatments.

If you have a dog with canine distemper, you will find here plenty of information about the NDV treatments discovered by Dr. Al Sears that have saved hundreds of dogs from this disease. Follow the links at right to get an education about the possibilities — and the limits — of these treatments. Contact us via ed.bond.new.york@gmail.com and tell us where you are, what symptoms you are seeing and for how long.

After being treated with the NDV protocols, dogs have survived distemper in Florida, Texas, Southern California, Alberta Canada, the Philippines, India, Hong Kong, Romania, Hungary, Turkey, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. We are no longer making referrals to vets unless they directly ask us to. It is up to them to reach out to the public in whatever way works for them.

If you are a veterinarian interested in the NDV treatments, we can offer you documents, videos, owner testimonials and other information. Our ultimate goal is to see the NDV-induced serum proven through scientific trials.

Make sure to read our FAQ. Distemper is most successfully treated before before the dog goes through the sixth day of symptoms — before seizures — by using Dr. Sears’ NDV-induced serum. If seizures or other neurologic problems have occurred — that includes spasms, tics, loss of balance, etc. — then the possible treatment might be the NDV spinal tap. Understand that the survival rate for dogs going through the NDV spinal tap is nearly 50 percent, but that is a better outcome than the standard response to neurologic distemper: euthanasia. A professor at Kansas State who studied the NDV spinal tap concluded that dogs often recover if given enough time to survive until the virus goes silent. So, he did not think the NDV spinal tap was beneficial. But he also said that we give up on these dogs too early. Many that typically would be euthanized have a chance to recover a decent quality of life if given a chance.

From 2011-20, we ran a discussion forum to help owners of dogs in neurologic distemper. That forum crashed in July 2020, but an archive is still available at the link above.

Stories, videos and pictures of  dogs treated with NDV-induced serum or NDV as an IV injection are here. Stories, videos and pictures of  dogs treated with the NDV spinal tap are here.

The full protocols are available through a PDF download.

Save Dogs From Canine Distemper conducts fundraising to support the treatment of dogs with canine distemper and research into the disease. It is a project of Kind Hearts In Action,  a dog rescue and placement public charity based in Los Angeles. This 501c3 group offers temporary and foster homes for stray dogs. We also support treatments for canine distemper based on the Newcastle Disease Vaccine as discovered by Dr. Al Sears.

Our FAQ may answer some of your questions at:

Please e-mail ed.bond.new.york@gmail.com and tell us how long your dog has had symptoms and whether they are neurological (seizures.) Also tell us where you are.

As to being able to afford the treatment, you could try this Web site that someone else used to pay for their treatments: http://www.carecredit.com/

up to now i am informed by doctors in my locality that distemper can’t be cured. after visiting this page i realized that it is my fault to believe them. i need to know more about this disease and how to save the innocent dogs from this.

NDV is not harmful to dogs. Yes, there are other diseases that may look like distemper. In the early stages, it is hard to tell distemper from kennel cough. It could also be mistaken for parvo or flu. And when a dog has seizures, you should know that there could be 40 or more causes for the seizure that are not distemper. You need to get a diagnosis from a vet. But because these treatments don’t work if you wait too long, you need a quick diagnosis. Dr. Sears recommends checking for the distemper virus in the bladder with a test called the Brush Border Smear: https://kindheartsinaction.com/2009/11/08/the-brush-border-smear/

I’m in need of vets in the houston/Beaumont, Tx area using Dr. Sears diagnosis and treatments. I’ve had my 13 week shi tzu puppy George in the vet’s office 2x in a week. First time to get his vaccinations…until then he was a perfectly healthy energetic puppy. Since that day it has been horrible watching him walk around coughing, gagging and what seemed to me be choking on something. I took him back to the vet Thursday and he told me he was suffering from allergies. I’m just not sure and want a second opinion…With the timeline you have given for diagnosis I don’t want to waste more time and wish to find a vet in my area hopefully. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Tomorrow will be the 7th day since his vaccinations. Thank you for any information.

Take a look at this link for help on diagnosing distemper:

Diagnosis is your first step. We need to know whether you have a distemper case on your hands. Are you seeing other symptoms? Pads of feet getting dry, eyes getting dry, nose gunked up with mucous, and also very important: fever. If you have these symptoms, it gets more likely that you have distemper case. There is help available, and if you are convinced you have a distemper case on your hands, please contact us directly at savedistemperdogs@yahoo.com.

We just adopted a German Shepherd from a rescue and we are scared that his immune system was low (he had an URI) when he was given his distemper vaccination and has since been showing signs of distemper (pneumonia, facial twitching, abdomen twitching, eye/nose discharge). Is it possible to develop distemper from the vaccine? And thank you again for this website and for the “Keep the Faith” youtube video- you are giving us hope in what seems like a hopeless situation.

I tried to e-mail you but the message was bounced back as undeliverable. Please contact us directly at ed.bond.new.york@gmail.com. Plenty of information is on this website, but if you send us your dog’s symptoms, how long you have seen them, how old and what breed of dog you have — plus where you are in the world — we can help you further.

Hello, is any vet in Guadalajara Mexico working with Dr. Sars method? Please help! Here we have a dog, his first synthoms appears around 15 days ago, no seazures yet.

i have a foster dog Min Pin Mix approx 2 years old being diagnosed with Distemper. We are located in Southern Ca. are there any vets performing this procedure around

It hasn’t been used in Israel yet. The closest place is Turkey. However, I believe I heard that NDV was being used tested out in treatment of human disease there. I will send you the full protocols and information that you can take to your vet.

I brought my newly adopted dog into the vet today after she had been hacking for the last two days and started having nasal discharge and labored breathing etc… and he diagnosed distemper… Do you have any info on anyone in Waco, TX that would perform this procedure? This dog is a sweet heart and I can’t put her through all this…

I went through the same thing as many of you. I rescued a dog from a shelter, she was lethargic & sick so I took her to the Vet the next day & the Vet said it could be a few different things so she tested her for a few illnesses & she was diagnosed with Distemper (titer test). My Vet told me that she most likely would die & that there is no known cure for it. She talked to me about euthansia & I refused. She gave me some antibiotics & said “Good Luck” & sent us home. AS soon as I got hime I went online & searched “Distemper Cures” & found Ed & Dr Sear’s serum. I posted & emailed & Ed responded really fast & helped me find a Vet in my area. I went there that same day & they gave my dog a shot in a vein in her leg. She improved the next day like a miracle! I want everyone to know, from someone NOT affiliated IN ANY WAY, SHAPE or FORM with Dr Sears, Ed or this Website or any of the Organizations that do business with any of them, that from personal experience I can honestly recommend this b/c I have seen with my oen eyes that it truly works! It saved my dog from death. And although I read that it doesn’t work in all dogs, I have to tell you that it is better to try it than not. If it’s really true that the dog is dying anyways, you have nothing at all to lose by giving it the shot. And if it works for your dog like it did mine & soooooo many others all over the world, then you will have saved your dog’s life by trying it! It is a miracle & I have been posting about it for over a year now everywhere I can think of to help get the word out b/c I truly, truly believe that it saves lives! So please, if you use it & have seen it work for your dog, do what I do, post it everywhere you can think of online. Tell everyone you know! Because more lives can be saved! WE MUST get the word out to people who are being told by their Vets that there is no known cure & to simply euthanize the dog & WE KNOW BETTER! Right? You can find my dog, “Trixie” on here with her story, pictures & a video under “Trixie Gets Treated”!

I just adopted a new little guy (4 months) from the Humane Society in South Florida who was released to us with a high fever and cough, which the next day progressed to a very stuffy nose and then pink eye(s), and giardia.

The vet kept him for a week, on an IV, two antibiotics, drops, vitamins, etc. His fever came down, he has always eaten and drank well, no diarrhea and he seems in good spirits, besides being tired all the time.
I’m just worried that neurological symptoms may start to appear now. He had a little facial and hind leg twitching while at the vet, but not severe. I just started noticing hardening of his foot pads a couple days ago. Is there anything I can do for him? We live in Boca Raton, FL. Thank you!

My newly adopted dog has been diagnosed with distemper and I a freaking out a little bit. She was sick when I adopted her, was extremely skinny and weak, had pneumonia, but recovered quickly with a 2nd set of antibiotics. She has, 1 month later, gained 3 pounds (she only weight 6lbs when i got her) and loves to eat, run, play. I have so many questions now that I know she has distemper. Can someone help me?
